“Promoted to Glory” is a well-known phrase which is used by the Salvation Army at the funeral of one of their members. I have always thought that it was a lovely way of referring to the death of a loved one as it seems to emphasize that the soul has now gone to a better place.
Like so many others I was saddened at the recent death of our Queen. She died within two days of performing one of her last official duties and I was glad that Her Majesty was spared a long period of suffering before her passing. Indeed her doctors told us that during those last two days she was “comfortable.” Silver Birch, one of our most famous guides from the next world, has compared death to the freeing from the cage of the imprisoned bird. What a wonderful image that conjures up. When you die you leave behind you all your aches, pains and physical defects and are completely whole in mind and body.
As a Spiritualist I view death differently from others. The Spirit World does not see death as the tragedy that we do. Again Silver Birch tells us “You cry when a soul comes to this world but we rejoice that a soul has come home.” I really feel for the Royal Family in their bereavement but we cry more for ourselves because we will miss the loved one’s physical presence. Let us be glad that they now have a healthy body, are free from pain and able to live a new life.
Everyone has to die. We are only put on the earth for a limited time and nobody wants to go on living when health problems are spoiling their quality of life. Spiritualists believe that our earth life is a School of Learning and that we must live it to the fullest, learning and experiencing as much as we can. Nobody can doubt that the Queen led a wonderful life, acquiring so much knowledge and experience in her long reign. She did her duty in so many ways, serving God, her people and her country. Spiritualists also know that the next world consists of a series of levels (like a step ladder) and on our arrival there, we will be placed on the level most suited to our life and spiritual advancement. Her Majesty was well known for her strong religious faith and this, coupled with her life of service means she will go to one of the highest levels. On her arrival she would spend some time in one of the “Homes of Rest” in the next world where new arrivals can go to recover from their transition from the earth. She would then have the great enjoyment of meeting up with those members of her family already there. Imagine her delight in greeting her husband, father, mother, sister, grandparents and other family members. Let us not forget her beloved corgis and horses she had probably mourned over the years for they also will be brought to her.
So everyone let us be glad for our Queen. She has regained her mobility and now has a new young healthy body. She has left behind a world filled with war, acts of terror, murders. injustices and numerous crimes. She has met up again with those who have preceded her into this new world. I have often heard people say that they want to go on living to watch their grandchildren grow up. Let me assure everyone that our relatives in the next world are very aware of what is happening in our lives and they are watching over those of us still on the earth. From their higher vantage point they can still try to help, advise and guide us with our earthly problems. (King Charles, don’t be afraid to ask your Mother for help!)
When we reach the end of our earthly life we all pray that we will hear God’s voice saying to us “Well done thou good and faithful servant.” {Matt 25:21}. Can anyone doubt that the Queen heard these words as she entered God’s Heavenly kingdom.
