Colour Co-ordination
Things are colour coordinated in India to make life simpler.
and maybe because of historical illiteracy;
Saffron is for hindu,
Green is for muslim,
Red is for peasant or for communist
and so on…
One thing that always raises a chuckle in me
is witnessing droves of wealthy hindu mumbaikers
adorning Sai Baba’s tomb in Shirdi
with gifts, rupee notes and plenty of saffron
of this ascetic fakir of muslim background.
Sai Baba himself said that he belonged to no religion,
since he had had both Hindu and Muslim masters.
Sai uniquely dressed like a Muslim,
whilst wearing the caste marks on his forehead of a Hindu.
He celebrated the festivals and holy days of both religions with equal intensity. SB recited the Koran to the glee of the Muslims,
but was similarly proficient in the Hindu Shastras or Vedas.
